Holy smokes! Where did November go!? How did I get so stinking busy!? AH!
To start off, Happy late Thanksgiving to all! I hope it was an amazing time for you and your families. However, I hope you avoided the massive table full of sweets and the second plate full of food!
This holiday season was tough for me. Really tough. I had 3 dinners to attend, each that involved way way way too much food. I made the huge mistake of weighing myself in the middle of one of the dinners on Thursday and the scale said I had gained 9 lbs. I think I nearly passed out when I read that but it sure made me walk away from the tables and stop eating food. Sometimes it takes little things like that and reminders as to what your goal is and why you should stick to it.
I am officially 17.5 lbs down and it feels amazing (because I actually didn't gain weight I stayed exactly the same)! But like I asked Ross today, WHERE DID IT GO!? And where in the world did it lay on my body before now!? It feels so good to be half way to my goal and seeing lower numbers on the scale. I feel like a new person, I feel like a happier person, and so much more as I'm bettering my life!
On top of losing my own weight I have sent my "tips and tricks" documents out to 17 people! 17 people that I know at least have access to a document that they can read and use to help change their life for the better. To take these steps in a way that can change their life for the better, permanently. Ican send this document to you if you just ask! I will never tell your name to anyone unless you want me to brag about you! ;)
Right now I want to talk about something simple that can help each of you. I was thinking about what I gave up food wise that really changed my diet and helped my weight loss move quicker in the beginning. We all know that seeing the scale drop immediately helps keep motivation, rather than no changes at all. So here is a list of foods that I gave up:
1. Carbonated drinks
2. Juices
3. Deep fat friend foods
4. Breads (except for 1 meal a day)
5. Sweets
6. Candy
7. Large portions of foods
8. Pizza
9. Buffets
10. Fast food
These are 10 simple things. Some things are harder than others but once they are gone, you don't even realize it. They are things that haunt you every once in a while but as long as you remind yourself of your goals, you will make it through.
I am finishing up a semester at college and only have 2 left! I promise I will post more! I have goals I want to reach before Christmas and I would like you all to set goals for yourself as well! Let me know what they are so I can cheer you on! Post your goals in the comments section, on my facebook page, or in a personal message! YOU CAN DO IT!
XOXO, Audrey

Down and Discouraged
Hi, I'm Audrey and dieting is hard. Everyone keeps asking me how I am staying motivated and how I am doing so well. Truth is, without Ross, I would have given up already. I cried my eyes out for an hour in the truck the other day and wanted to throw in the towel. Ross told me how proud he was of me, and surprised at the motivation that I had to do this. Friday we will have been dating for 6 months so we are still in the learning stages of our relationship. I have learned a lot about him through my diet, as I'm sure he has learned about me as well. I have learned that he is loving, patient, encouraging, funny, and my rock.
Friday night, I decided to share some popcorn with the group I was with while watching my brother play in his first football game as a senior (GO BULLDOGS!). It was pointed out to me that "popcorn is what makes you fat".. It took everything I had to not break down right there and cry. I know that everyone wants the best for me, but when I'm trying to lose weight, don't point out that it's going to make me fat.. Kindly suggest that I will regret that choice later and should choose something healthy. Because people like that are the reason that eating disorders form. ATTENTION, I have a dirty little secret. I battled bulimia on and off for 2 years because of people like this. Pointing out that if I would just give up sweets or if I would eat less, I would be so gorgeous and skinny! To a girl that wants to lose weight, she wants that food out immediately because she feels so guilty, she feels like if she gets it out she can be 'skinny and pretty'. Don't be the person that drives people to eating disorders. Please for the love of pete find a kinder way to suggest a healthier alternative to them.
I got discouraged that night on the way home but Ross picked me right back up and put me in my place. He told me that if I gave up now I would have to start all over from the beginning when I wanted to jump back on the train again. Starting over gets old. Stick it out and keep going even if you want to beat yourself up for a small cheat. You have to have those cheats, or you will always cheat. Eventually the cravings will leave you and you will only be craving healthy foods. Give it time and don't over do the cheat. A good friend of mine gave me some awesome advice the other day. He told me to PLAN a cheat meal every 7 to 10 days. Reward yourself for all of the healthy eating in the previous days and schedule ONE cheat meal (not a full day).
I have been going to the gym for almost 2 weeks now.. Can you believe that?!? Time has flown faster than ever. I have been eating healthy for almost a month! CRAZY! I took my sister with me to the gym the other day and it was probably my favorite gym session so far just because I love her so much and love getting to do things with her. :)

Kels doesn't do the working out thing. So this was her annual session, and her soreness showed for it. We just lifted weights that day, mostly arms, with some light cardio.

Working on our biceps and learning how to use all of the weight lifting machines that day was the highlight. My gym was having some water leak issues so we got the pleasure of being the only 2 in the gym that day.

Ross's mom is on Weight Watchers so she is VERY supportive of my diet and I couldn't be more thankful for that. Because of her my weekend of eating was healthy and easy. She stocked the house with all healthy foods and gave me no other options. Tomorrow we are trying a new chicken that I would like you to have the recipe for so if you are looking for something new to try on your day off, you can try it to!

I am back to being enthusiastic about my journey and I am ready to tackle this week. My biggest thing that I want to remind you of is be sure to find your support group. Without a support group you may succeed but not hold yourself as accountable. Find the ones around you who are ready to push you to be your best, BUT also understand when you can't be at the top of your game. Find someone you can cry to and ask for guidance, even if that person wants nothing to do with weight loss at all. As I say every week, I can do this! YOU can do this!
Never, never, never give up. -Winston Churchill

The People Around You
The excitement I felt when I jumped off of the scale yesterday was GLORIOUS! I have lost 3.6 lbs! Some people are giving me the 'Who-gives-a-crap" face but I was the happiest person on the planet! I ran straight into my room and jumped on the bed where my boyfriend was laying to tell him the good news. He was just as excited as I was and told me that I was working really hard for this. Heck yes I am!
Then 5 minutes later he told me that we were going to DQ for lunch.....
UGH! The people around you are who influence you, cheer you on, pick you up from the ground, pat you on the back, etc! I felt like he was tearing me down and making my diet harder! I made a smoothie and took it with me into DQ instead of eating the food that I would have once eaten too much of. I watched the guys scarf down on some deliciously crunchy looking chicken strips and a piece of buttery toast.. Hearing that sentence was torture.. right? I found myself not caring and not thinking that at all! My smoothie tasted good and I had just discovered my weight loss from all of my hard work! I'm not giving that up now!
I could roll my eyes at my boyfriend every time he wants to eat out, but is it really worth it? My goal recently has been to find the silver lining in all situations. Example, you get toilet paper stuck in your pants at the public restroom, mortifying, BUT you made someone else laugh for the day! And maybe they were having a horrible day and just needed God to give them a reason to laugh. You were God's reason, which is pretty incredible if you ask me! SILVER LINING PEOPLE!
My silver lining to my boyfriend loving to eat out is that he is teaching me to have self control and discipline over my own diet. He feeds me temptation after temptation so that I learn to shut them down. Not only do I learn the self control but I learn what to do in those tricky situations. Examples:
1. If you feel like you HAVE to order something ask the waiter for a piece of grilled chicken. Name one place that doesn't have a good grilled chicken. Dip it in your sauce of choice, it wont kill you.
2. Make something small before you leave, such as a smoothie. The group/person you are with can wait 5 minutes for you to have a small meal before they leave.
3. Just order a water or an iced tea and sit and enjoy with your group/person. Just beware of what they have ordered. Avoid staring at their french fries or fried foods that are bad for you! Think of what your big goal is to help you out!
4. Order a house salad. The perfect sized salad that for some reason always tastes better when it is made for you in a restaurant.
I can actually say that I have been on a diet for 10 days now and my life has changed for the better. The amount of energy that I have gained from eating more fruits and veggies and watching my portions is unreal. I have yet to even start doing any physical activity and have still lost 3.6 lbs! I like picking out healthy foods and giving people tips. Diets can be fun if you want them to!
Thank you everyone who has been reading my blog and I hope it inspires you each and every day. I should make a note that if I ever say things about my boyfriend, family, or friends in here it is NEVER in a bad way. They are my people, and everyone needs people. I love my people!
Reminder: If you don't change your ways, you will never change.

Being the 'Bigger' Friend...
If you read the title to this post and immediately thought 'I can feel her pain' or 'I'm that friend', you will probably already have all the same feelings that I post in this blog, but read on.
I have been apart of many social groups in my life and I'm only 20. Im a social butterfly who just like to talk. I was part of the sports group in high school, the drama group, the choir group, and more. Now, in college I'm apart of my every day friend group, and I still cant escape being the 'bigger friend'. Anytime I talk about being fat or needing to lose weight my friends claim quickly "Audrey, don't say that you are gorgeous!" "You're not fat you're perfect!". I believe them for the moment and move on with life still not losing weight. Then on a Friday night when we are getting ready to go out on the town as a group one of the girls yells, "I can't find anything that looks good!! I am so FAT!" Might I remind you that they weight anywhere from 115 lbs to 140lbs and I'm over here at a 199 lbs even. So do I still believe them that they dont think my body that has 50 more lbs attached to it isn't fat? Welcome to the life of a woman.
I have spent the last three months of my life two and a half hours away from my boyfriend and family, living with my aunt and uncle and their three gorgeous children. I love every second of it and I wouldnt change it for anything. However, if you're a mom of children or just a caretaker of them, you know that most kids base their whole meal around chips. Lets have chips with mac and cheese, which is also bad for you and I hate it. Lets have chips and cheeseburgers. Lets just have chips! On top of that, lets have every snack in the house! We have to cover everything in cheese, and have chips with it. SO healthy!!

Needless to say my summer weight loss goals turned into weight gain and I don't think ill ever be the skinny person or the sexy girl of the group. BUT who cares! I have already found the man of my dreams who loves me for me! So who cares, right!? WRONG!
I have had that mentality for too long and its the reason that every time I gain five pounds I say "Its just five pounds". And that my friends is how 25 lbs later you realize that you are dangerously over weight no matter who thinks you look fine.
I started my dieting a week ago today and I'm not going to lie to you its one of the hardest things I have to do on a daily basis. How many calories is that? Have I eaten too much? Will that make me fat? How can that skinny girl eat that and still be skinny but I cant?! And so so so much more. Temptations are the worst. Period week, lets not even get into the mad cravings of a tub of sugar that we get. Women have it rough.
I am not going to keep telling you about how much it sucks but I'm going to tell you how my 199 lb body goes through the cravings, hard work, and discipline every day and keep you posted on my weight loss pound by pound. I also plan to throw in some recipes here and there because cooking truly is my favorite thing to do, healthy or not. I hope some people can relate to my blog and find motivation for the weight loss goals and time in the kitchen.
